Keika Ramen|桂花ラーメン

A bowl of Keika Thin Noodle Ramen (細麺桂花) with chashu pork, seasoned egg, bamboo shoots, and green onions at Keika Ramen in Tokyo, Japan.

The slightly salty, salt-based tonkotsu broth is delicious, with a clean taste that still carries plenty of pork-bone umami.

The mayu oil adds another layer of aroma and richness, creating an even deeper flavor and making the soup more addictive with every sip.

You can choose between thin or thick noodles. Both have a good firm texture and pair very well with the broth.

The crunchy stem wakame and menma add plenty of texture, while the seasoned egg has a satisfying soy sauce flavor.

This is the kind of bowl that is very easy to get hooked on.

Taro men|太肉麺

Keika's signature dish, "Taromen," is a rich pork bone ramen topped with tenderly stewed pork belly and cabbage. It is always the most popular menu item at Keika Ramen.

The Taro Men is Keika Ramen’s most popular dish,
topped with tender braised pork belly.

The pork is incredibly soft, richly seasoned,
and one of the highlights of the bowl.

Cabbage is served alongside it, adding a fresh contrast
and giving you a nice break between bites.

Eating the cabbage together with the pork belly
brings out the flavor of both ingredients even more.

It is easy to see why the Taro Men is the No. 1 most popular choice.

Takana don | 高菜丼

This takana bowl is delicious at every branch. Japanese pickles are delicious on their own, but this takana pickle is even more delicious when stir-fried with minced meat and seasoned.

Takana rice bowls are common at many ramen shops, but the one at Keika Ramen feels a little different.

Rather than simply placing takana on top of rice, the mustard greens seem to be stir-fried and seasoned, giving them much more flavor.

The takana is tasty enough to enjoy almost like a separate side dish on its own.

The ramen itself is not especially large, so pairing it with this takana rice bowl makes for a much more satisfying and filling meal.

Years ago, many fans would make the trip to Shinjuku just to eat Keika Ramen.

Today, the brand has expanded to more locations, making it much easier to enjoy its distinctive Kumamoto-style ramen without traveling all the way to Shinjuku.

Keika also sells take-home ramen, so you can enjoy a version of the restaurant’s flavor at home.
