Ikaruga first became widely known for its rich seafood-based ramen at its original shop in Kudanshita.

The combination of a deep, creamy broth with seafood umami helped make it a popular name among Tokyo ramen fans.

The brand later opened a location inside Tokyo Ramen Street, making it much easier to enjoy Ikaruga’s distinctive rich seafood ramen at Tokyo Station.

Rich Ramen | 濃厚らー麺

A bowl of gyokai tonkotsu ramen served at Ikaruga in Tokyo Station Ramen Street, featuring a rich seafood and pork broth.

Ikaruga is still a very good ramen shop, but personally, I sometimes feel that the Tokyo Station version does not have quite the same impact as the original Kudanshita shop did during its peak.

That may simply be my own impression. When a famous ramen shop expands to multiple locations, some fans feel that the atmosphere, consistency, or overall experience can change compared with the original shop.

Even so, Ikaruga still attracts plenty of customers who genuinely enjoy its rich seafood-based ramen, and I would still rate it above many ordinary ramen shops.

So for me, it may not feel quite as special as the original once did, but it is still a very solid bowl of ramen.

The original Ikaruga shop was once located in Kudanshita, but it later moved to the Ichigaya area.

If you are interested in comparing the Tokyo Station branch with the current main shop, it may be worth visiting both.
