Kagawa Ippuku Kanda is a popular Sanuki udon shop that was selected for the Michelin Guide Tokyo Bib Gourmand for three consecutive years from 2017 to 2019.

But honestly, Michelin is not the main reason I would recommend this place.

Even before that, Kagawa Ippuku was already known for seriously good udon.

The noodles are smooth, chewy, and full of character. It is easy to understand why this shop is so popular.

Shoyu Udon ( Cold ) | 醤油( 冷 )

Cold Shoyu Udon with tempura at Kagawa Ichifuku restaurant in Kanda, Tokyo.

Every udon dish here is good, but what really stands out to me is the texture of the noodles.

They have a firm chew and springy elasticity, while still feeling smooth and pleasant to eat.

That combination gives the noodles a really satisfying texture and a nice aroma.

The dipping sauce, broth, and tempura are also carefully prepared and taste very good.

There are several different styles of udon on the menu, so I recommend trying a few and finding your favorite.

Like many ramen shops that close once their soup runs out,
Kagawa Ippuku also closes when the day’s udon noodles are sold out.

So if you are planning to visit later in the day,
it is worth keeping this in mind.
