Bacal Ramen banner featuring shoyu, tonkotsu, miso and tsukemen-style ramen with Mount Fuji, cherry blossoms and a Tokyo skyline in the background

I still remember waiting in line for hours at the hugely popular Menya Musashi in Shinjuku around 30 years ago.

Since then, Menya Musashi has expanded into a variety of ramen shops, each with its own style and personality.

Kanzan in Kanda is one of those shops, carrying on the Menya Musashi tradition while offering its own distinctive ramen.

Ramen | ら~麺

A bowl of shoyu ramen served at Menya Musashi Kanzan in Kanda, Tokyo, featuring a rich double broth of animal and seafood flavors.

Many customers seem to order the tsukemen, but personally, I prefer the ramen.
Of course, the tsukemen is good too.

The chewy noodles go really well with the rich animal-and-seafood-based broth, making it a very satisfying bowl.

The menma and chashu also have a hearty, substantial feel, which adds to the overall satisfaction.

One fun thing about Menya Musashi is the energetic shout from the staff when they drain the noodles.

It adds a lively touch to the atmosphere and is one of those little details that makes the experience memorable.
