A Famous Taishoken Branch in Minami-Ikebukuro

Taishoken became famous as one of the pioneers that helped popularize tsukemen, and its chuka soba was also widely loved.
This is the Minami-Ikebukuro branch of that well-known Taishoken.

Chuka Soba | 中華そば

A bowl of chuka soba shoyu ramen served at Higashi-Ikebukuro Taishoken Minami-Ikebukuro in Tokyo.

While many customers order the tsukemen, personally, I really love the chuka soba (ramen) at Taishoken. Years ago, I used to eat it almost obsessively.
The chewy, springy noodles pair beautifully with the well-balanced, deeply flavorful soup, creating an incredible harmony. The chashu is made with pork thigh, while the menma has a slightly sweet seasoning, and this ramen has a seriously addictive quality.

The tsukemen is great too, but I definitely recommend trying this chuka soba at least once.

There are times when a line forms outside, but the restaurant is larger than it looks, so the turnover is fairly quick.

This is only my personal impression, but I feel that the broth sometimes has a deeper, richer flavor in the evening than during the lunch hours.
