Tokyo-Style Tonkotsu Ramen Since 1992

Founded in Ikebukuro in 1992, Tonchin is a long-established ramen restaurant known for its original Tokyo-style tonkotsu ramen.

Unlike traditional Hakata-style tonkotsu ramen, Tonchin combines a rich pork-bone broth with a special soy sauce seasoning, chicken, and other ingredients to create its distinctive flavor.

The restaurant also takes pride in its freshly prepared ingredients and handmade noodles, offering a style of ramen that has remained popular in Ikebukuro for decades.

Tokyo Tonkotsu Ramen

Rich tonkotsu ramen with chashu, menma, green onions and nori at Tonchin Ikebukuro

Tonchin's signature Tokyo Tonkotsu Ramen features a creamy pork-bone and soy sauce broth with a rich, savory flavor.

The bowl comes with a generous slice of chashu pork, bamboo shoots, green onions, and nori seaweed. A layer of pork fat adds extra richness to the soup.

One of Tonchin's specialties is its handmade curly noodles, designed to hold the flavorful broth with every bite.

Although the soup looks quite rich, it offers a satisfying balance of flavor without being overwhelmingly heavy. A comforting bowl of classic Tokyo-style ramen.

Tonchin is conveniently located just a short walk from Ikebukuro Station's East Exit, making it an easy stop for lunch, dinner, or a meal after exploring the area.

The restaurant has counter seating, making it comfortable for solo diners. It's also a popular spot, so you may find a line during busy hours.

With its long history in Ikebukuro, Tonchin remains one of the area's familiar ramen destinations.
