A Unique Bowl from MEN Kurai in Hamamatsucho

MEN Kurai is one of those ramen shops that immediately catches your attention, starting with its unusual name.

The ramen itself also has a distinctive character, with thick noodles, a rich soup and a style that feels a little different from a typical bowl of ramen.

It is the kind of place that makes you curious before you even take the first bite.

Shoyu Ramen with Wonton | 醤油ラーメン+ワンタン3個

A bowl of shoyu ramen with thick chewy noodles served at MEN Kurai in Hamamatsucho, Tokyo.

The soup has a familiar shoyu base with a subtle niboshi-style dried sardine flavor in the background. But what really surprises me is the thickness of the noodles.

They may honestly be the thickest ramen noodles I have ever eaten.

The thickness of these noodles is really something.

The wontons are also surprisingly juicy and delicious, and they work really well with the ramen.

The menu also includes abura soba, so if you like noodles this thick, that may be another good choice.

With less soup getting in the way, I imagine you can enjoy the texture and presence of these massive noodles even more directly.
