The owner of Menya Ishikawa trained at the famous Chuka Soba Aoba, and you can clearly feel that influence in the ramen.
Personally, I have always thought of this place as taking the style of Aoba and pushing it even further, with a richer and more powerful flavor.
I used to come here very often, and for a while it was one of the ramen shops I visited the most.

▶ What I Tried
Ramen|らーめん

The soup, noodles, and toppings all feel extremely high in quality.
The broth is packed with rich umami from animal-based stock, balanced beautifully with seafood flavors that create a deep and harmonious taste.
It is slightly on the salty side, but the flavor is bold without feeling overly heavy. The broth has a deep, lingering richness that stays with you after each sip.
The medium-thick noodles hold up well against the powerful soup and carry the flavor perfectly.
The chashu is incredibly tender, falling apart easily with chopsticks, while still remaining juicy and well seasoned.
The menma is thick, firm, and pleasantly chewy.
Personally, this is one of the best bowls of ramen I have ever had.
If you get the chance, I definitely recommend trying it.
▶ Final Thoughts
The restaurant often has a line during lunchtime, but evenings are usually much quieter and more relaxed.
They also serve tsukemen, and it is definitely worth trying. The dipping noodles are also very good and offer a different way to enjoy the rich flavors of Menya Ishikawa.
