Famous for Garlic Genkotsu Ramen — and Limited-Time Collaborations

Ramen Kagetsu Arashi is a major ramen chain in Japan, best known for its original Garlic Genkotsu Ramen.

The signature ramen is already popular on its own, but Kagetsu Arashi also regularly collaborates with famous ramen shops and chefs, offering limited-time ramen inspired by those well-known restaurants.

That means there is often something new to try in addition to their classic Garlic Genkotsu Ramen.

Arashi Kagetsu Ramen Syoyu | 嵐げんこつらーめん 醤油

Garlic Genkotsu shoyu ramen with chashu, egg, nori and menma at Ramen Kagetsu Kanda

The classic Garlic Genkotsu Ramen is available in shoyu, shio and miso.

All three have a fairly bold, rich flavor that can become surprisingly addictive.

Personally, I recommend the shoyu version, which is also one of the restaurant’s recommended choices.
Its savory, garlicky flavor really keeps you coming back for another bite.

If ramen alone is not enough, Kagetsu Arashi also has a good selection of side dishes.

My recommendation is the Garlic Pork Rice.
The savory pork and garlic flavor goes incredibly well with rice, and it is the kind of side dish that makes you want to keep eating.

Fujisakiya is Kagetsu Arashi’s original take on Yokohama-style Iekei ramen, created by one of the company’s ramen developers and named after him.

Of course, it is delicious.
You can clearly taste the rich pork-bone and soy sauce character that is typical of Iekei ramen, but the overall flavor feels relatively easy to eat and not excessively heavy.

And when you pair it with the Pork Rice, it becomes even harder to stop eating.

Spicy Nira Moyashi & Fresh Garlic | 激辛壺ニラもやし・生ニンニク

One thing you should definitely not forget at Kagetsu Arashi is the complimentary fresh garlic and spicy nira.

Ask the staff and they will bring you fresh garlic cloves with a garlic crusher.
Crush the garlic directly into your ramen, and it adds even more aroma and flavor to the soup.

The spicy nira is also excellent with both ramen and rice.
Despite the name, it is not overwhelmingly spicy — it is more like a slightly salty, mildly spicy seasoned nira.

Add fresh garlic and spicy nira to an already satisfying bowl of ramen and Pork Rice, and the whole meal becomes even better.

Many people tend to choose famous ramen shops simply because of their reputation, but Ramen Kagetsu Arashi proves that a large chain can be just as satisfying and addictive as many well-known specialty shops.

I have taken people from many different countries to Kagetsu Arashi over the years, and they have always been satisfied.

Because it is a large chain, you can find Kagetsu Arashi in many different locations, and in my experience, the quality and flavor remain very consistent from branch to branch.
That consistency makes it an easy and reliable place to enjoy ramen wherever you find one.

If you see a Kagetsu Arashi during your trip to Japan, definitely give it a try!
