Bacal Ramen banner featuring shoyu, tonkotsu, miso and tsukemen-style ramen with Mount Fuji, cherry blossoms and a Tokyo skyline in the background

Tokyo Ramen Street is packed with famous ramen shops, but Soranoiro NIPPON has a slightly different personality from many of the others.

The shop serves classic-style shoyu ramen made with Amakusa Daio chicken, while also offering vegetable-based, vegan, and gluten-free options.

Personally, I think this is one of the interesting things about Soranoiro. Ramen can sometimes feel like a very traditional and fixed style of food, but this shop shows that there is still plenty of room to try something different.

Of course, being different does not mean much if the ramen is not delicious.

So let’s see what Soranoiro NIPPON actually tastes like.

Shoyu Ramen | 醤油らーめん

A bowl of light shoyu ramen with chicken and seafood broth served at Soranoiro NIPPON in Tokyo Station Ramen Street.

I had high expectations because of Soranoiro’s reputation,
but honestly, this bowl did not work for me.

The flavor felt quite light, and personally,
I could not find the depth or richness I was expecting.

To me, the broth almost felt like soy sauce tare
diluted with hot water — that is simply the impression
I got while eating it.

I actually found myself wondering,
“What is it about this bowl that so many people enjoy?”

Of course, taste is completely personal,
and Soranoiro has many fans.

This is only my own experience,
but unfortunately, this particular bowl was not for me.

Soranoiro NIPPON opens early, so it is convenient if you want ramen in the morning at Tokyo Station.

Compared with some other shops in Tokyo Ramen Street, it often seems a little easier to get into.

Personally, this bowl was not really my taste, but ramen is personal.

If you are curious, try it yourself and see what you think.
