Japanese yakiniku with marbled beef, grilled meat and a Tokyo skyline

A Nostalgic, Old-School Yakiniku Spot in Kamata

Yakiniku Reimen Tecchan Kamata has the atmosphere of an old-fashioned neighborhood yakiniku restaurant, with a slightly nostalgic Showa-era feel.

Personally, it reminds me of a casual Japanese izakaya, but built around yakiniku instead. It is relaxed, lively, and easy to enjoy without feeling too formal.

The restaurant also embraces a classic street-style yakiniku concept, with richly seasoned meat and bold dipping sauces.

Rather than a polished luxury yakiniku experience, this is the kind of place where you can simply sit down, order meat, drinks and side dishes, and enjoy a casual local-style meal.

▶ Menu Examples

Premium marbled tokujyo karubi beef served for yakiniku at Jojoen

The price of the Special Premium Karubi may seem quite high at first, but after the first bite, it is easy to understand why it costs that much.

It is incredibly tender and juicy, yet surprisingly not too heavy or greasy.

The rich flavor spreads through your mouth with every bite, and it is honestly hard to find karubi this delicious.

Premium beef tongue with lemon served for yakiniku at Jojoen

The Special Premium Beef Tongue is simply packed with umami.

It has just the right amount of bite while still being wonderfully tender, and the flavor is incredibly rich with every chew.

It is difficult to describe it any other way — it is simply excellent.

Tontoro pork neck slices served for yakiniku at Jojoen
Tender beef fillet served for yakiniku at Jojoen in Japan

This beef fillet was on another level.

When I asked the staff for a recommendation, they suggested the fillet and told me it was incredibly tender and that I would definitely be satisfied.

I decided to try it, and they were absolutely right.

The tenderness was honestly shocking, and the flavor was just as impressive. It was easily one of the standout dishes of the meal.

Yukhoe served with lettuce and dipping sauce at Jojoen Kawasaki Le Front

When beef is properly prepared and handled for raw consumption, yukhoe can be one of the best ways to enjoy its natural flavor.

This yukhoe is a perfect example.

The meat has a rich, clean flavor and a smooth texture, and of course, it is absolutely delicious.

Grilled king crab legs with corn and vegetables at Jojoen Kawasaki Le Front

There are also several seafood options for the grill, including crab, scallops and other fresh seafood.

It is a nice option if you want to enjoy something other than meat during your yakiniku meal.

Jojoen Kawasaki Le Front has a spacious and very clean interior, and the service is excellent.

The prices are definitely on the higher side, but the quality of the meat, the atmosphere and the level of service make the experience feel worth it.

If you want a more refined yakiniku experience in Kawasaki, this is one of the places I would recommend.

Reservations are usually not essential on weekdays, but I recommend booking in advance on Fridays and Saturdays, when the restaurant can get much busier.
